What does it mean to bear fruit? To yield positive results. What does that look like? Love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. The 9 seeds that shed so much light on how to live (found in Galatians 5:22-23). And what plays a huge role in the process? Words!
Let me break this down for you. We are like soil. The seeds we plant daily are our everyday response to things. Whether you big yourself up for achieving an academic award for best designer or scold yourself for sewing two left arms on a blazer…we know that language shifts our mood. These moments in life however do build character. Just like fruit. The range in texture, shape and most of all…colour!
Through the exploration of colour study as well as sketching cut fruit, I noticed people were drawn to the familiarity of warm vibrant colours and that solidified my theory of how people respond to different hues. Affirming language however, in uncertain times will always prove to be effective. And these encouraging messages will translate through poetry as well as compliment the artwork.
The aim of this FMP is to use fruit as the guideline to explore character using the Fruit of the Spirit , language through poetry and emotive colour responses and how it can develop into something fruitful over time.
